"You Are What You Love"

  1. I think you set up a really strong (and effective) narrative by his movements vs. your stillness in the image. I think it is really interesting that the male figure fades in and out: it effectively shows a movement of time, but it also complicates the passage, or I suppose the pacing in which his movements are being made. I think it's a very beautiful image (I love the clarity and composition); it's very cinematic.

  2. This is a very interesting image, and a tough one to pull off. Its abstract nature allows the mind to ponder questions about the relationship between these two subjects -- I wonder if he's simply leaving her or if the photograph is saying something about how much time he dedicates towards her [which in turn leads the viewer to question how much time he gives to others in his own relationships]. Though I am curious to find out the intent of the artist here, I enjoy the fact that the individuals viewing this piece can sort out their own meaning for themselves.

  3. Technically I think this picture is the most advanced. Clearly you have some experience with photoshop. The lighting creates the mood of the picture, everything has a nice glow to it. My first reaction is to say that this is too dark, but I am not sure if it really is. Either way this truly portrays a story more so than any of the other images.

  4. This image's dark, luminous lighting and layering effects does a wonderful job in forcing the viewer to investigate the story that is being told. I love how the glowing, layered effect with the figure on the bed works well to not only show movement/time elapsing, but provokes the viewer to feel his emotions (whether its anxiety, worry, neurosis, depression, contemplation, etc).

  5. I feel this image has more of a story. It makes me wonder what is going on. What that story is I'm not really sure but there is a sad mood to the photo. The lighting definitely goes along with the setting and the characters facial reactions. I like the light from the window.

  6. i agree with the comment above, as soon as i saw this image i wanted to know the story behind it. it immediately reminds me of an independent film. i feel like a script could easily be written based on this photograph.
